Betiana is the leader and foundator of the organization. Recently graduated as a social worker at the public University of San Juan, she is the one to raise awareness among her fellow sisters about the social struggle for women's rights

One of the main activities carried out by the members of Martina Chapanay is the elaboration of bakery products to sell in the slum where they are located. This gives her a small income that they use to sustain their families.

These women are also tasked with taking care of their children and are responsible for their upbringing. The weight of the historically invisible care economy also falls on their shoulders

Majo is in charge of the elaboration of flags and pieces of clothing for the different protests and manifestations they partake in

Daniela's house is the set for the community eatery for kids in the slum. They prepare a snack for children at 6 pm after school so they can make sure they have at least one daily meal. They are trying to be acknowledged by the government so they can get supplies for the daily snacks

Betiana and her fellow leaders of Martina Chapanay once were able to run their own orchards and bet on food sovereignty. Unfortunately, due to internal disagreements and lack of supplies the orchard is now a project for the future.
The organization also gives woman the tools to be activists and take part in political movements.

Together with other organizations they actively participate in political functions in order to make themselves visible to the eyes of the government.

This function took place before the legislative elections of November in San Juan. The candidates promoted themselves to the voting groups while the leaders of the organizations, like Betiana, had the chance to have their requests heard.
The motto of these organizations: "Land, shelter and work" - Tierra, techo y trabajo.

The mass attendance to these events, even in the middle of a pandemic, is crucial to the existence of organizations like Martina Chapanay. It sets important milestones for the attainment of the legal status as a civil association and helps them stay on the radar of the political agenda.
